ESC NZ - OBEDIENCE

One English Setter in particular stands out, having competed and gained qualifications in Obedience, Agility and Rally-O competitions in New Zealand, namely Gay Bouterey with Angel (Ch Saxilby Seraphine ADXS CDXG TCQ JDX RAE2). There are also several other English Setters who have been trained and competed in Obedience, Rally-O and Canine Good Citizen. Gaining qualifications in the past few years there have been Gay Bouterey with Delta (Ch Saxilby Southern Belle TCQ CDG RA), Jane McBride with Fanta (Saxilby Southern Skye CDXB RA), Jane McBride with Frankie (Ch Lodema Saint Francesca RN) and Gay Bouterey with Daisy (Mountshannon Wild Daisy RA). Qualifying in Canine Good Citizen there have been Caroline Abey with Forrest Gump-CGCF, Caroline Abey with Quinn (Hei Tiki Snowy Quin CGCF), Yvonne Gausden with Xan-CGCF (Tacosa Xanxere), and Robert Macbeth with Lorna (Lodema Lorna May CGCF)

Obedience titles that can be achieved in New Zealand are:-
CDX (or CD)    Companion Dog Excellent
CDX (or CD)    Silver and Gold levels
TCQ                Test C Qualified
OB CH             Obedience Champion
OB GR CH       Obedience Grand Champion

Rally-O titles in New Zealand are:-
RN (Rally Novice), RA (Rally Advanced), RE (Rally Excellent), RAE (Rally Advanced Excellent)

English Setters make wonderful companions and family dogs. While they will never be the first choice of most people looking for a top obedience or agility competition dog, they constantly prove that with the right training, they can be very successful at this as well.
